NIRA starts Registering School Children to get National ID’s

As the schools today open up for the second term countrywide, the ministry of education and sports in conjunction with the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) have kickstarted a nationwide registration exercise of school going children aged between 5-16.

The exercise is aiming at coming up with the exact numerical number of children in school so as to aide the government in planning for the pupils appropriately and eliminating ghost pupils.

The requirements for a child be registered include a photocopy of his/her parent’s or relative national identification card as the process is anticipated to last for three good months.
